The European Parliament tour on April 2, 2012 was a success!  Our group was well received by an informative and dynamic guide, who discussed the history of the Parliament, its functions and its powers.

DID YOU KNOW?   Members of the public are allowed entry to the EP to attend plenary sessions?   You’ll find the agenda at http://www.europarl.europa.eu/plenary/en/home.html.  Present yourself at the visitors’ entrance and be sure to have your passport, identity card or driver’s licence with you.  Visits are free and visitors must be at least 14 years old.

Over 20 AIA members visited the wine cave and enjoyed a wonderful wine tasting at L’Hopital Civil this month!

For those of you that missed the wine tasting event in February, there is still an opportunity for you to visit the cave. The cave has an open house on April 14 and April 21. For more information please contact the wine cave directly.

AIA members participated in an intro to Vinyasa Yoga class at Yoga Moves earlier this month.

All the AIA yogis and yoginis enjoyed learning new moves and getting zen!

AIA Men enjoyed the Beer Exchange, including the tasting of ”real” Budweiser, made in the Czech Republic.  An event to be repeated!

In December approximately 15 AIA ladies got together to exchange ornaments, snack on yummy seasonal treats and share some holiday cheer!  The ornament exchange was full of stealing and swapping (which always makes the ornamet exchange game more fun!) and a great time was had by all.

Approximately twenty AIA members participated in the Council of Europe tour held on November 21st.  The guided tour provided an opportunity to learn more about the role of the council and other European institutions and to visit the Debating Chamber of the Parliamentary Assembly. A visit to the European Parliament is likely to be planned for spring 2012.

20 AIA children and adults got together at the Iceberg Skating Rink on Sunday, November 20 to skate and enjoy a hot chocolate in the new Iceberg café.

AIA members gathered for an enchanting Halloween at Dubliner’s Bar on October 31st.  Great costumes were worn by all!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the first children’s activity of the year – the annual Logelheim Pumpkin Festival which takes place in a small village near Colmar. Everyone had a good time at the festival and participating in the activities, many of which were Halloween-related!

The AIA Board is in need of Children’s Activities Committee members. If you enjoy working with children and have a few hours a month to spare, please consider volunteering for this worthwhile cause.
