“If you can’t find it, create it”. This is how the The American Theater Group (ATG) came to be. Out of a desire to provide greater Anglophone theater opportunities in Strasbourg and, for students, to recreate the classic American highschool play experience, the Association of Americans in Alsace (AIA), launched the ATG in 2012. The first show, “Annie Jr.” was a great success. This year, an even more ambitious project is underway, “Seussical Jr.” which opens October 11th at Fossé des Treize. “Seussical Jr.” is sponsored by the Consul General of the United States and the Association of Americans in Alsace.
ATG’s mission is to share American culture through theater performed by adult and youth actors living in the Strasbourg area. ATG is made up of Anglophone students and adults representing diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds but who all share a passion for theater and the performing arts.
“Seussical Jr.”, is based on stories by the famous children’s author, Dr. Seuss and in particular the story, “Horton Hears a Who”. The play is a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty which brings to life the power of friendship, loyalty and community.
All performances will take place at the Centre Culturel du Fosse des Treize (6 Rue Finkmatt, Strasbourg, France). Tickets are available online at, https://www.americansinalsace.com/seussical or at the door the night of the performance.
Ticket prices are 10 Euros for adults (18 years and over), 5 Euros for students (under 18 years) and children under 5 years old are free of charge.
