November 2009 Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving dinner was loads of traditional fun this year, as always. The “Golden Oak” restaurant provided the turkey and AIA members provided the sides and desserts! Once again, we sincerely appologize to all those who didn’t get quite enough sides and desserts. We will take steps to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.

17th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, November 2008

Join us at La Chaine d’Or, 134 Grand’Rue, Strasbourg, on Sunday, November 23rd, 2008 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. We will be gathering together with friends and family to celebrate a truly American holiday, complete with Roast Turkey and Stuffing. Each family is asked to bring a side dish or dessert for 15 people. AIA will provide an aperitif; the turkey, dressing, and gravy; a glass of wine, water and coffee or tea. The children will be offered juice, soda or water with their meal. Again this year, AIA will be subsidizing the price of the meal to make it more affordable for all families. The children’s activity committee will have puzzles, coloring pages and the like for the kids.

Cost for the afternoon is €15.00 for adults and children over 15 and €6.00 per child aged 4-15 years of age. Children 3 and under are FREE.
Questions will be addressed by Julia at president@americansinalsace.com. The RSVP form is at the back of the newsletter. RSVPs due by November 13, 2008. We look forward to having you join us around our Thanksgiving table!

16th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, November 2007

Ninety members enjoyed our 16th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner held at the Strasbourg Tennis Club on Sunday, November 18th, 2007.

We gathered and enjoyed socializing with each other over chilled cremant before sitting down to a fabulous meal. Members brought wonderful side dishes which included traditional fare like green bean casserole and whipped potatoes. The turkey was succulent and everyone enjoyed having it carved especially for them. The meal was complete after everyone delighted on desserts such as pecan pie, rice pudding and pumpkin pie. The kids also had a great time. The younger children colored Thanksgiving scenes and the older kids played games and tried to solve word puzzles. There were also lots of children’s movies available to entertain them as well. It was wonderful to have so many members around the AIA Thanksgiving table.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Our 15th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, November 19, 2006 was a huge success! Ninety-six members came out to celebrate a truly American holiday. Before the meal everyone mingled over a glass of cremant while the children did an array of festive crafts. We were honored to have the United States Consul General, Frankie Reed join us for dinner. The turkey and gravy were provided by Le Tie-Break at the Strasbourg Tennis Club. Our members brought all the side dishes and desserts. It was all wonderful and many felt a sense of ‘home’ when they saw traditional favorites like stuffing, green bean casserole, and sweet potatoes. All this was followed by an assortment of pies and cakes.

It was great having so many of our AIA family around the Thanksgiving table!
